The goal was to leave home (West Virginia) at the ridiculously early hour of 7 am. We didn't actually make it out of the state til almost 9 am. If we had left that early, we would have just sat in Friday afternoon Chicago traffic, and who really wants to do that?
Our kitty, Hershe, knew something was going on today. She was yowling at the top of her lungs all morning. She kept peering up at us with big eyes. Was she saying, "Please don't go! I'll eat you up, I love you so!" I don't know, but we jumped in our boat (okay--our mini-van) and sailed away from our little wild thing.
Really...today has been pretty boring. We drove through West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and we currently have 41 3/4 miles left of Illinois. I think a wee bit of Minnesota is up next and then South Dakota. The roads here in Illinois and back in Indiana were horrible. I'm a little surprised that the road hasn't eaten our poor little sailboat/mini-van.
I read a little bit today and slept a lot bit. I think Ashley did too. Oh, Ashley says she read a lot bit. Mom sent the blog to all the contacts in her phone and stared out the window. Dad says he just sat here and ate all day--he's actually been driving all day.
And we're still driving. 34 1/4 Illinois miles to go!
